- Complete blue folder (medical, liability, etc). Get doctor’s approval if req’d.)
- Pay for course and receive study materials.
Independent Study

Your Home
- Watch Open Water DVD modules 1 through 5.
- Read modules 1 through 5 from PADI Open Water book. Read RDP booklet. Complete Knowledge Reviews at end of each module and turn in to instructor.
Saturday

Pt Loma YMCA
- Review Knowledge Reviews with Instructor. Take quizzes 1, 2, and 3, and review results with instructor. Review incorrect answers and re-take quizzes as req'd.
- Learn diving skills in pool (modules 1 through 5).
Sunday
7:30am
La Jolla Shores
- Take quizzes 3 and 4. Review results with instructor. Review incorrect answers and re-take quizzes as req'd.
- Ocean dives 1 and 2. Log dives in log book.
Following Sunday
7:30am

- Take final exam. Review results with instructor. Review incorrect answers and re-take final as req'd.
- Ocean dives 3 and 4. Log dives in log book.
- Receive PADI Open Water certification card.


A PADI "Open Water" certification qualifies you to:

(1) dive with a buddy independent of professional supervision while applying the knowledge and skills you learn in this course, within the limits of your training and experience
(2) obtain air fills, scuba equipment, and other services
(3) plan, conduct and log open water no stop (no decompression) dives when properly equipped and when accompanied by a buddy in conditions with which you have training and/or experience
(4) continue your dive training with a specialty dive (Adventure Dive), in the PADI Adventures in Diving program or in PADI specialty courses.
